It was inevitable that we’d end up paying a visit to the Ozone Bar while in Hong Kong. The opportunity to sip cocktails in the highest bar in the world? I’ll drink to that!

Occupying the dizzy heights of the 118th floor, the Ozone Bar is located in the lavish Ritz Carlton hotel in Hong Kong.

The Ozone Bar

In a city renowned for its frequent smog we hopped across to Kowloon for drinks the second we had a clear evening. After a ear popping elevator ride to the 103rd floor we stepped out into the grand and glitzy lobby of the 5 star Ritz Carlton before transferring to the express elevator serving the Ozone Bar.

We were greeted by the hostess and escorted through a mirrored corridor into the sleek bar. The bar space is spectacular in its own right with neon lighting, black leather couches and swirling panels. But really it’s all about the stunning views. We were fortunate to be given a window seat with direct views of Hong Kong Island and Victoria Harbour. One word, WOW! On a clear evening the sprawling views of skyscrapers and the Harbour are outstanding. I don’t exactly have a fantastic head for heights (first skiing holiday = disaster!) but once I established my sky legs I was good to go!

The Cocktails

The cocktail menu was compact with a relatively limited selection. We opted for the Blackberry mojito (Rum, Blackberries, Lime, Mint, Sugar, Soda) and a Dragontini (Vodka, Raspberry Liqueur, Fresh Raspberry, Yuzu and Basil Foam). The cocktails were around HKD 160 each (approximately USD 20). There were some drinks on a Happy Hour menu early in the evening which were around HKD 90 (approximately USD 13) but the selection was quite limited.

The cocktails were tasty and although they were expensive, it’s in line with other hotel bars I’ve visited. The ICC has an observation deck on the 100th floor and entry is HKD 168 (approximately USD 22), so really you get a free drink!

Service was good and our server was friendly and knowledgeable.

The Terrace

The best part of the Ozone bar has to be the outside terrace with its glass walls and an open roof. There is seating on the terrace but it was pretty windy the day we visited and I was freezing. And my dress kept billowing up à la Marilyn Monroe, definitely not cool! We managed to venture out for some pics and to admire the view.

Overall

We had a fantastic time in the Ozone Bar and it was well worth the trip across the Harbour. We headed over for the bar opening at 5 p.m. so we could check out the views before dark. It gets busy as the evening progresses and the music gets louder so, due to our old age, we preferred the early evening atmosphere!

Overall, an amazing experience and the views were spectacular. We felt like we were on top of the world!

The Ritz Carlton Hong Kong

The Ritz Carlton occupies floors 102 to 118 of the ICC (International Commerce Centre) in West Kowloon. The ICC is the highest skyscraper in Hong Kong and the Ritz Carlton is the highest hotel in world.

Ozone Bar Dress Code

The Ritz Carlton is a 5* hotel and it’s pretty posh! We made the effort with formal shoes, dressy jeans and a shirt for the gentleman and a dress and heels for the lady, The official dress code from the Ozone website states no beach sandals, open toe shoes, sleeveless shirts for gentlemen after 9 p.m.

How to get to the Ozone Bar

We hopped on the Tung Chung line on the MTR to Kowloon Station and took exit C1/D1 to the Ritz Carlton. It’s a bit of a trek through Elements shopping mall but the route is well signposted.
