Understanding the Virtual Queue

The idea behind the Virtual Queue is that it allows you to secure a meet-and-greet return time through the Disneyland Paris app. This approach replaces traditional physical queues for some of Disneyland Paris’ most popular characters where queue times.

Note: you must join the Virtual Queue and be allocated a return time to meet these characters at their Virtual Queue location. There is no additional standby queue that you can join if you do not get a space in the Virtual Line.

Characters Included in the Virtual Queue

Several popular Disney characters now use the Virtual Queue system.

  • Mickey Mouse (Fantasyland location)
  • Stitch
  • Olaf
  • Princess Pavilion
  • Darth Vader
  • Spider-Man
  • Marvel Super Heroes

Mickey Mouse, Stitch, and the Princess Pavilion are among the most sought-after, with spots disappearing within moments of being released. Olaf and Spider-Man are also highly popular, filling up quickly, while Darth Vader and other Marvel heroes tend to have more availability.

Step-by-Step Guide to Joining the Virtual Queue

Preparation Before Your Visit

Before arriving at Disneyland Paris, ensure all your park tickets are linked directly to the Disneyland Paris app. This step is crucial, as you must be physically scanned into the park before accessing the Virtual Queue system.

Note: Annual Pass holders travelling with non-pass holders need to visit City Hall to obtain a paper ticket to link their reservation, which can be somewhat inconvenient and time-consuming. Be prepared for this additional step if your group includes mixed ticket types.

Joining the Queue

Virtual Queue spots are released twice daily at exactly 9:45 AM and 2:00 PM (keep an eye on the App during your visit as Disneyland Paris can change timings). Be ready to act swiftly at these times, particularly if aiming for highly popular characters. You can book spots for groups of up to six guests. If your party exceeds six, you must make separate reservations.

Managing Your Reservations

While guests can theoretically reserve up to five Virtual Queue meets per day, in practice, securing more than two or three popular meet-and-greets is challenging due to immediate demand.

You’ll receive a notification about 15 minutes before your scheduled meeting, and you’ll have an approximate 30-minute window to arrive. I’ve never tested the full 30 minutes as this is an unconfirmed time allowance so we’d recommend being nearby when the timer hits 0!

Advantages of Using Virtual Queues

The Virtual Queue system offers significant advantages. It maximises your time in the park by allowing you to enjoy attractions, dining, and shopping rather than standing in lines. Additionally, physical waits at character venues are drastically reduced, creating a more relaxed and enjoyable meet-and-greet experience.

Expert Tips to Secure Your Spot

For optimal success, consider these expert strategies:

Use personal mobile data rather than park Wi-Fi to secure reservations faster.

Precisely refresh the queue page at release times using a synchronized world clock on another device.

Setting alarms a few minutes ahead of time ensures you’re ready precisely at queue release.

Some guests believe being physically near the meet-and-greet locations may improve chances, though effectiveness varies widely.

Always link and confirm ticket details well in advance to prevent technical issues on the day.

Important Additional Considerations

Note that Disneyland Paris does not offer separate queue provisions for disability pass holders; the process remains identical for all guests.

Additionally, the Princess Pavilion offers the opportunity to meet one randomly assigned princess per meeting.
